PEACE AND CONFLICT PREVENTION

The Emmanuel Ivorgba Center’s Violence Prevention and Conflict Resolution Program is dedicated to fostering peaceful, harmonious communities through education, dialogue, and community engagement. Recognizing that violence and conflict undermine social stability and development, the program aims to equip individuals and groups with the skills needed to prevent, manage, and resolve disputes constructively. The program offers training workshops on conflict analysis, negotiation, and mediation techniques, enabling participants to address disagreements peacefully. It emphasizes the importance of active listening, empathy, and effective communication in de-escalating tensions. Additionally, the program promotes community dialogues that bring together diverse stakeholders—such as youths, elders, and local leaders—to foster understanding, mutual respect, and collaborative problem-solving.

A core component involves building local conflict resolution committees equipped to mediate disputes at the community level. These grassroots structures serve as accessible, trusted channels for resolving conflicts without resorting to violence. The program also conducts awareness campaigns on the negative impacts of violence, promoting values of tolerance, inclusivity, and non-violence. Furthermore, the Center collaborates with law enforcement, schools, and civil society organizations to develop comprehensive strategies for violence prevention. It aims to address root causes such as poverty, inequality, and social marginalization that often fuel conflicts. Ultimately, our Violence Prevention and Conflict Resolution Program seeks to create resilient communities where disputes are managed peacefully, social cohesion is strengthened, and individuals are empowered to contribute to a culture of peace and stability.
