WOMEN IN AGRICULTURE (WIA) PROGRAM
WIA.jpg

The Emmanuel Ivorgba Center’s Women in Agriculture Initiative is a transformative program aimed at empowering women to become active participants and leaders in the agricultural sector. Recognizing the vital role women play in food security, rural development, and household economies, the initiative focuses on enhancing their skills, resources, and confidence to succeed in agriculture.

The program offers tailored training on modern farming techniques, sustainable practices, and crop diversification to improve productivity and income. It also emphasizes capacity-building in areas such as soil management, pest control, and post-harvest handling, enabling women to optimize their yields and reduce losses. Additionally, the initiative provides practical workshops on value addition, such as food processing and packaging, to help women access higher-value markets.

A key component of the program is facilitating access to inputs like seeds, tools, and credit, addressing common barriers women face in acquiring resources. The Center also encourages the formation of women’s cooperatives, fostering collective bargaining power and shared resources for greater market access. Furthermore, the initiative promotes financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and leadership skills, empowering women to manage their farms sustainably and explore new business opportunities. By creating a supportive network, the program aims to reduce gender disparities in agriculture and elevate women’s roles as economic contributors and decision-makers.
